Wear and Friction Behavior of Gr/Sn Solid Lubricated Dual Reinforced AMCs

The current work has been undertaken to see the effect of Gr/Sn as a solid lubricant for development hybrid aluminum metal matrix composite (HAMCs). HAMCs were fabricated by reinforcing 10 wt% (sillimanite + ilmenite) minerals with or without 1 Sn/Gr/both via stir casting technique. Optical microscopy revealed homogenous distribution reinforced particles refinement silicon. Vicker hardness showed good interfacial bonding matrix. formation porosity during fabrication is ~ 1.74 %. maximum reduction in wear rate and coefficient friction are containing tin graphite lubrication agents. This exhibited 6 % less resistance than commercial grey cast iron specimen used brake rotor automobile industries. It seems that lubricants tune cast-iron. Abrasive was dominant at low loads adhesive high loads, confirmed from SEM analysis.
